Annie
and Ambrose had eight children and four died as infants. (AH) |
|
Iris had a hip job aged
about 60, but again she had lead a very hard life running a business from about
the age of 22 as they ran a fish and chip cafe in Chatham High Street for about
8 years (they had purchased this from Annie's sister, Jane) and then they went
'home' back out to Snodland and ran a smaller business there until Arthur STAGG
(Iris' husband) retired, believe, at 65. But it was still very hard work,
especially in the summer. Poor Arthur had a severe stroke about 2 years after
retiring and Iris and their daughter Margaret looked after him tirelessly at
home until he died - not sure exactly when, but believe around 2000. (AH) |
