According to (AD), John is listed as the child of Richard and Ann SCAIFE of Rudston at his baptism in August 1854, just months after his parents were married. On the 1861 census, he is living with his maternal grandparents. He appears on the 1881 census as head of the household, caring for his younger siblings, but his birth year is now
changed to 1857. He appears again on the 1891 census with a new wife... his
first wife
Mary having died after only 7 years of marriage. Now his place of birth has changed to Bempton, where he lived with his grandparents and his year of birth is 1855, but he's still with the same siblings at the same place, as he is again in 1901. |
