| The author was offered a George V Imperial Service Medal in August 2009, inscribed round the edge with the name Alfred William Kemp (photos below). This type of medal was awarded for long and faithful service in the junior grades of civil service and was usually awarded after 25 years of service. 41,422 George V medals were awarded between 1911 and 1937. source | ||
