| It's not clear why Frederick would suddenly drop his profession as a hatter between the 1901 and 1911 census dates. Certainly, this family appears to have been devasted by events between these years - possibly triggered by the death of Frederick's wife, Emily in 1908. By 1911, the family was scattered with father Frederick in the workhouse, daughter Lily in service and son Frederick working on a farm in Wales. |
